Meet Our Team
Director of Sisters in Shelter
She has been with SIS since April 2019, and before that worked for 2 years as a Clinical Coordinator and 5 years as a Chemical Dependency Counselor. She loves the work she is currently doing and actually was the one who encouraged that we extend our services to domestic violence survivors as well as human trafficking survivors!
Her favorite part of working with SIS: “watching the women achieve success and independence, seeing strong women be strong women.”
She has worked for 2 years with SIS, and in various other case management positions before that. She is skilled in working with people who struggle with substance abuse, addiction and trauma. She is also a trained facilitator for Thinking for a Change curriculum.
Her favorite part of working at SIS is “seeing that light bulb go off inside someone when they realize they are worthy of a better life, and that they can take charge and live the life that they’ve always wanted.”
Community Outreach Advisor
Leah started out as an intern with Sisters in Shelter in January, and has now accepted a full time position as the Community Outreach Advisor. She spent her previous years working as an ESL tutor for international students and therefore is skilled in intercultural communication.
Her favorite part of working with SIS: “I love getting the opportunity to empower our clients and help them see that they are not defined by what happened to them.”
